ZALORA appoints new chief people officer

Louise Pender will double up as the retailer’s people head and legal counsel

Online fashion retailer, ZALORA, this week appointed Louise Pender as its new chief people officer.

Pender will oversee the people and culture teams across all ZALORA markets and head all HR functions.

She will double up as the retailer’s people head and head of legal and sustainability, as she continues to hold her existing role as ZALORA’s general counsel.

Pender will report directly to the CEO, Gunjan Soni.

“As we embark on the next chapter of ZALORA’s growth story, we find ourselves at the juncture of re-imagining the future of work for our people,” Soni said.

“Louise is a leader with a record of building and empowering high performing teams. Her career has centred around her passion for helping organisations and individuals reach their full potential.”

Pender joined ZALORA in March 2016. According to Soni, she has championed a number of people initiatives, including diversity and inclusion.

Developing a workplace culture where people feel valued and appreciated has always been a priority for the firm, the CEO added, and the new CPO appointment is a commitment to making ZALORA one of Asia’s “most desired places to work”.

In addition to her 20 years of experience in providing legal and business advice, Pender has experience in driving change management and organisational development.
